Antique Chinese Wedding Basket
€8500Antique Straits Chinese Wedding Basket, Fujian, China. Circa 1900. Tiered such as this example made of woven cane and wood and then Lacquered in black and red and gilded were ordered from China’s Fujian Province by Peranakan ( Localised ) Chinese of Southeast Asia including the Peranakan of the Straits Settlements, Phuket, Sumatra, Makasser and Java. The Baskets were used in elaborate Wedding rituals that had evolved in many Peranakan Chinese communities. Among the Peranaken Chinese of the Straits Settlements such baskets were known as bakul siah ( ‘auspicious baskets’ ) and were used to transport wedding gifts during the Twelve-day Wedding, as well as during the engagement, (Bakul means basket in Malay and Siah means auspicious in Hokkien ) Among the Peranakan Chinese of Phuket town on the Thai island of Phuket (who were closely related by Marriage and migration to the Peranakan Chinese of Panang) the Grooms relatives would let off fire crackers and then move the Khanmak ( trays of wedding gifts ) in a procession of the Brides hose, The procession would include musicians playing Chinese horns and gongs , making sounds like ‘tee tor tee cheng’ apparently an idiom for ‘marraige’ in Hokkien. The small wedding gifts such as money, gold and the wedding ring were carried in these Three Tier Baskets. Beautiful piece of History , make a cool Wedding Present.

Triang Metal Rocking Horse
€16000Lines were Victorian England Largest Rocking Horse Makers, going on to become the worlds largest toy makers for a time, as Triang Rocking Horses. Never the less the quality was still something even the best makers today will struggle to attain. The company went through some changes, from a small family toy maker in 1850 to a large company in Victorian-Edwardian London. A breakaway off shoot Lines Bros eventually absorbed the Parent company and traded as Triang. Lines Horses tend to have a more feminine look than Ayres and are just as sought after. This fine example showing years of Patina and the beautiful colours coming through is a really cool looking piece and would be a great display piece in a Vintage Shop E.T.C.

€42000€35000Corona Beer Cooler
€42000€35000Corona Extra was first brewed in 1925 at the Cerveceria Modelo in Mexico City. Ten years after its launch, Corona became the best selling beer in the whole of Mexico. And by 1997 it became the best selling Imported Beer in the United States. In 1937 the company instigated efforts to market Corona Extra as a fine quality product to distinguish itself from it’s rival beverage in Mexico called Pualque, a native indigenous alcoholic drink made from the fermented sap ( aguamiel) of the agave plant ( also called maguey). Marketed strongly in it’s clear glass bottles it established it’s foothold in the world wide Market. Until along came the Corona Virus, and such a large proportion of people were associating the Beer with the Virus production had to halt in Mexico. This Iconic piece originated in Mexico, and is a great talking subject at any party apart from keeping your beer cool for hours.
