Authentic Antique Ships Compass. Would have stood on the captains deck in a housing (which we don’t have) This compass is housed in a very heavy brass casing . It is a floating compass covered in a heavy duty glass. The glass has a crack in it but compass appears to be working. This would of stood in a housing bolted to the deck and would have swiveled to it’s own level in the housing as the ship rolled over the sea’s. It’s a unique piece of Maritime history and not easy to come by. It’s not dated but research shows it probably dates from the early 1800s
